Cheating symmetry is often a necessary evil in creating a good model. It boils down to five simple steps:

  1. Determining where you want the line of symmetry to occur.
  2. Drawing a line down said line.
  3. Splitting the model in half to discard the bad geometry.
  4. Mirroring the “good” geometry over using the line you drew.
  5. Joining the parts back together.

With this, you can really cut some corners and achieve fantastic results.
